To take the teen road test at Drive2Go, you must:
- Be 16 or 17 years old
- Hold a valid Texas Learner’s Permit (with photo) for at least 6 months

Have completed a Texas Teen Driver Education Course, and bring one of the following certificates:
- DE-964 Certificate (Driving School)
- DE-964 & PT DE-964 Certificate (Parent-Taught Program)
(Must be issued within the last 2 years and marked “FOR DRIVER LICENSE ONLY” with the state seal) - Provide a completed 30-Hour Parent Driving Log
- Present a valid Verification of Enrollment (VOE) from your school, dated within the last 30 days
- Watch the Impact Texas Teen Drivers (ITTD) video and bring your printed certificate (valid for 90 days)
- Bring a completed Teen Driver License Application Form (DL‑14b)
- Be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian to sign DPS-required paperwork
Note: All documents must be printed and brought to your appointment. We do not print documents at check-in. If you forget, printing is available for $2 per page.
You may:
- Bring your own vehicle (must meet safety and documentation standards)
- Or use a Drive2Go vehicle for your road test — $30.00 fee
Your vehicle must meet the following standards:
- Current registration
- Valid proof of insurance with the VIN number listed

Mounted front and rear license plates
(Temporary “Texas Buyer” or “Metal Texas Dealer” tags are allowed) - No spare (“donut”) tires
- Fully working
- Turn signals (front and rear)
- Brake lights
- Horn
Company vehicles are only allowed if the VIN appears on the insurance.
- Are unable to communicate effectively in English
- Are hearing-impaired and require an interpreter
- Use special driving assistive devices
- Hold an out-of-state or international learner’s permit
Your 20-minute driving test will include evaluation of:
- Parallel Parking
- Backing in a Straight Line
- Lane Changes
- Proper Lane Usage
- Right-of-Way Rules
- Obeying Traffic Signs
- Right and Left Turns
- Approaching Intersections and Corners
- General Vehicle Control & Driver Posture
- Arrive on time to allow for check-in and paperwork
- If you arrive more than 10 minutes late, you may need to reschedule and pay a $40 fee
- To avoid fees, cancel or reschedule at least 24 hours in advance
- Same-day cancellations, rescheduling, or no-shows will incur a $40 fee
- DE-964 / PT DE-964 Certificate: Valid for 2 years
- Road Test Completion: Valid for 1 year
- ITTD Certificate: Valid for 90 days
Drive2Go Driving School uses Drivers Test Now, a DPS-authorized Third-Party Skills Testing provider. All road tests follow the official Drivers Test Now mobile testing route and meet Texas DPS standards.
We are a DPS-authorized Third-Party Skills Testing (TPST) provider, certified to administer the official Texas Adult Road Test. All tests follow DPS-approved procedures and scoring criteria.

To be fully prepared for your road test:
- Students must download and complete the following form:
- Under 17 Years 10 months Students – Download and complete the Teen Driver License Application Form (DL‑14b)
- Over 17 Years 10 months Students – Download and complete the Adult Driver License Application Form (DL‑14A)
- Create your account at the Texas Driver License Portal (TxT) using the same email address you will use on your application. (Visit: http://txt.texas.gov)
If you want to avoid an extra trip to the DPS office, you can opt for our DPS Document Submission Service for $40 after you pass the test! This service allows us to upload your completed documents electronically to TPST on your behalf.
You qualify for this service if you:
- Are a U.S. citizen
- Are not turning 18 within 30 days of your road test
- Have no pending transactions with DPS
- Bring all required documents and your completed DL‑14b form to your Drive2Go appointment
- We upload everything to TPST through the portal and DPS will process your application (typically 1–14 business days)
- Once approved, you’ll be able to download your temporary license by logging into http://txt.texas.gov and receive your driver license by mail
Please be aware: After documents are submitted, no refunds can be given, and we won’t be able to communicate with DPS on your behalf.
Note: The $40 fee covers document submission only. DPS may still require an in-person visit if additional verification is needed.

Our Testing Process — What to Expect
- Pre-Test Vehicle Check
Before beginning the test, our examiner will perform a quick inspection of the vehicle to ensure all lights, turn signals, and safety equipment are functioning properly. - Review & Instructions
You’ll receive a detailed explanation of how the test works — including what to expect, what the examiner will look for, and how to stay calm during the process. - The Road Test
During your driving test, you’ll demonstrate essential driving skills such as:
- Starting, stopping, and backing safely
- Turning and signaling correctly
- Lane changes and speed control
- Proper spacing and defensive driving
- Parking (including parallel parking)
- Obeying all traffic signs and signals
The test usually takes about 20 minutes, and the examiner provides feedback immediately afterward.
